Move to regulate compassionate appointment; age requirement, 17-25 lakhs for minors and dependant who do not want job

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Applicants for compassionate appointment must have attained the age of thirteen or more at the time of the officer's death. Relief money will be given if the age is less. Those who are eligible but do not want to be appointed can also apply for the relief money.

Relief money can range from 17 lakhs to 25 lakhs depending on the post and service of the deceased officer. Only appointments were given until now. All departments had appointing authority till now. Henceforth, the General Administration Department will be the appointing authority. All departments should report vacancies for this purpose to the General Administration Department.

The final decision will be reached only after discussing the draft prepared by the Personnel and Administrative Reforms Department with the representatives of the service organizations under the chairmanship of the Additional Chief Secretary. The meeting will be held on May 10 at 11 a.m. at Shruti Hall, Secretariat Annex II.

Every sixteenth vacancy for dependents

A fixed percentage of entry cadre posts including Class III, IV, Technical Section and Uniform posts in all departments where direct recruitment is provided for shall be reserved for compassionate appointment. Those posts will be published on the website of the General Administration Department. Every department has to report every 16th district-wise and state-wise vacancy to the General Administration Department through online system for compassionate appointment. There is no need to consider headquarters vacancies. Applicants can choose up to five posts. There will be no option to change the option after the application period.

Three years to apply

Applications should be submitted within three years of the employee's death or within three years of the applicant becoming a major if the applicant is a minor. Delays will not be excused under any circumstances.

One can apply for the relief fund even after the deadline. Only eligibility obtained within the application deadline will be considered for appointment.

Eight lakh family income limit

Only those who are within the income limit fixed by the government (currently Rs. eight lakhs) can get an appointment or relief fund. The annual income certificate of his family should be obtained from revenue authorities within one year of death. Income certificates after the specified period will not be considered.
